WHAT IS DERMASWEEP® MICRODERMABRASIONTM AND WHY IS IT DONE?
DermaSweep is the latest in micro-resurfacing/ microdermabrasion technologies, a procedure that combines the elements of brushes, vacuum, and continual flow application of any number of agents simultaneously to effectively boost the therapeutic impact of agents. It is well tolerated and useful to treat a variety of problems from acne to sun-damaged skin in a manner that individuals can both appreciate and tolerate. DermaSweep® is capable of producing a more significant result than traditional microdermabrasion. When coupled with the various infusion agents, vitamin c, salicylic acid, hyaluronic acid, lightening agents, the results transcend those achievable with any other microdermabrasion.
HOW IS IT DONE?
Using precision vacuum pressure, the DermaSweep® wand lifts the skin into the treatment tip and gently removes the stratum corneum (dead skin cells). The vacuum simultaneously stimulates blood circulation and the bristles exfoliate. Once the stratum corneum has been removed, the bristle treatment tips prep the epidermis to receive skin specific epi-infusionT solutions in a more efficient manner.
WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF DERMASWEEP®?
You can expect pink skin immediately and for several hours or days after depending on the treatment you need. Brown spots may occasionally worsen especially if you are not careful to use sunscreen (and for some, topical pigment reducing agents) before and after the procedures. You should not have DermaSweep® if you have active herpes, active inflammatory acne, open sores, inadequate sun protection, pregnancy, or any unstable medical condition.
WHAT CARE DOES THE SKIN REQUIRE AFTER A DERMASWEEP® TREATMENT?
Before you leave our office after your treatment we will apply a sunscreen. You may apply makeup over the sunscreen before you leave our office. You may resume your retinoid and pigment reducing agent as well as makeup when the skin is smooth to the touch.
